Teeth aligners for adults

Many adults give up on their dream of straight teeth because of the constraints of everyday life and the high costs that braces entail. Invisible aligners from PlusDent are the innovative way to get your dream smile.

What are invisible aligners?

Invisible braces or clear aligners are very thin aligners for the upper and lower jaw made of transparent plastic, individually adapted to the bite, which gently push teeth to straighten out misalignments.

Getting a confident smile is easier than you might think. Metal wires, brackets and countless visits to the orthodontist are things of the past when it comes to straightening adult teeth. Invisible aligners are a breakthrough in terms of treatment length and comfort. Very thin aligners made of transparent plastic fit perfectly on the teeth and push them gently into the correct position.

How do teeth aligners work?

Teeth aligners are the innovative solution for correcting malocclusiosn in adults. They are made of medical-grade plastic, which is of course free from BPA or other harmful substances. As the product is designed to be worn in the mouth every day, we set the highest quality standards.

The aligners are made by experienced dental technicians in our in-house dental laboratory in Germany. All that’s needed for this is an accurate 3D scan of the teeth taken during an appointment at one of our partner dental practices. This state-of-the-art dental impression technology enables PlusDent to create very thin pairs of clear aligners with a precise fit, right down to the smallest detail. The invisible aligners are comfortable to wear thanks to their advanced technology and materials. Neither the patient nor the people around them notice the aligners in everyday life. The improvement in tooth position and self-confidence, on the other hand, is usually noticeable after just a few weeks and increases the patients' quality of life.

What makes teeth aligners different to braces?

Clear aligners are a step forward for traditional orthodontics. While fixed or removable braces are often recommended for children and teenagers because their jawbone is still malleable, clear aligners are a proven method of straightening adult teeth. This significantly gentler treatment integrates into your daily routine effortlessly and inconspicuously, without limiting your work life in any way. Slight malocclusions such as crowded teeth, teeth gaps or simply crooked teeth can be corrected properly with aligners. Your dentist will make a precise diagnosis during your personal appointment at the practice. While orthodontic treatment relies on fixed wires and brackets for most braces, which are adjusted as needed, aligner treatment uses pairs of aligners that are gradually replaced to gently push the teeth closer and closer to the desired position.

As with braces, for the first few days after a new pair of aligners is fitted, teeth can be a little more pressure-sensitive as they are gradually moved. However, this usually lasts for a shorter time and is less noticeable on average than is the case for recently adjusted braces. Time-consuming visits to the dentist and their waiting room are also reduced to a minimum with PlusDent teeth aligners. Dentists can also monitor the treatment’s progress digitally via an app and via up-to-date uploads of detailed photos of the tooth position. In-personappointments at the practice are otherwise only required in the case of complaints or irregularities.

What are the advantages of invisible braces?

Corrective aligners are used to gradually straighten teeth, adjusting them with a barely perceptible and gentle pressure. That means a very thin material is sufficient, which has almost no impact on your everyday life, speech or appearance. You remove aligners to eat and drink, clean them with cold water and a mild soap, and then comfortably put them back in.

Handling the removable aligners in everyday life is very simple. There is no risk of food remnants being caught unnoticed in the braces and no increased risk of caries due to metal resting on the teeth. Sharp wires and a sore jaw after a visit to the dentist are also not an issue when you choose clear aligners.

Teeth aligner patients are also spared frequent check-ups and long waiting times at their orthodontist’s. The app, specially developed by PlusDent and completely free, tells patients when to move to their next stage of their invisible aligner treatment. All aligners for the entire duration of the treatment are sent directly to the patient's home in a box before the teeth-straightening process begins. The key to a new smile is in wearing the aligners consistently. Dentists and experts are available every day for any questions and uncertainties.

Another advantage of the aligner treatment is its duration. Usually you might expect a long wait before seeing any results. Invisible aligners, on the other hand, when used properly and worn 22 hours a day, show initial improvement after just a few weeks. Before you even begin your treatment, a video simulation attached to your treatment plan will show you a preview of how your teeth will look once they are straightened. With this vision in mind, you can approach your treatment with even more confidence.

How long does the treatment take?

Patients receive their individual treatment plan following an initial appointment at the dental practice, where the expected results and the treatment steps are revealed. Afterwards, you can view a three-dimensional animation of your jaw and a simulation of your treatment progress in the PlusDent app, right up to your perfect tooth position. You will find out there how long your treatment is expected to take. Depending on your tooth position and the degree of correction, the average treatment time is four to ten months, with the first visible results appearing after just a few weeks. Feel free to discuss your individual case with our experienced specialists. After you have completed your treatment, our retainers ensure you maintain your straight teeth. You will wear this pair of aligners, which are made of more sturdy material, for 12 hours a day for the first six months after your treatment is completed, and then only at night.

How much do teeth aligners cost?

Depending on the complexity of the treatment, aligner correction costs between £1,890 and £2,390. These costs pay off in the long run, because you’re more likely to smile when you love your smile. Straight teeth make you feel more confident, which in turn has a positive effect on your quality of life. If you are unsure about the one-off payment for the treatment, the instalment payment models, paid monthly in small amounts, are an ideal solution.
